I had a really great first mother's day! I got a little bit spoiled too. :) Saturday night was spent very quiet with just Brandon, Allison and I at home. We had a nice dinner and Brandon gave me some gifts. I got a card from Allison, a card from Brandon along with some lotions from L'Occitane, a groupon for a 3 hour house cleaning!! And my most favorite gift of all....A charm from the jewelry designer Tina Steinberg that is the impression of Allison's fingerprint! We just got the mold to do her fingerprint and send it back, but I'm so excited about it. I have always wanted a necklace that has some meaning that I can keep on all the time...just a simple silver charm or something. Now I can wear her fingerprint all the time. It comes with a one word inscription on the back. I think I'm just going to do the letter 'A'. It was such a nice evening and then we had to go to bed early for my race the next day.
I was crazy and was motivated to sign up for another half marathon for three reasons...1-to get me motivation to get in shape. 2-so that I didn't stop doing the things that I enjoy doing now that I have a kid. and 3-to be a positive role model for my baby girl. I thought Mother's Day is my day so I can do whatever I want. :) Well, having a kid, working full time, and training for a half marathon all while still breastfeeding is SO HARD!!! I feel like since I'm away from her all day, I don't want to miss out after work, so then I either have to miss playing with her or just go after she goes to sleep. I have done both. But mostly I just skipped training since I was so tired. So I ended up not being very prepared for my race...basically running one time a week and the longest run I had done was about 6 miles back in march. So not prepared. But I was determined to do it anway. I figured that it was ok to walk, but I needed to get out there. Well I ended up running the whole thing!!! Very slow, but I still did it. The official time was 2:38:55. I am actually going by my watch time which was about 2:29. I had to pee from the start of the race so I had to stop at mile 4 and wait in the long line..about 10 minutes! So I stopped my watch. Since I wasn't running, I figured I'm on my own time now. :) I am so glad I stopped though...I felt so much better and I picked up my pace pretty good...until mile 10. The last three miles were awful. But when I came around the corner I could see my little cheering squad! Nikki, Andrew, Colton, Brandon and Allison! They all had made me signs (even Allison!) and were rooting me on. It brought tears to my eyes. When I saw my little lady, the pain went away and I just thought to myself..'this is why I'm doing this.' It felt so good to finish and have a supportive team.
Afte the race EVERYONE came to our house. It was supposed to be My mom and Frank, Brandon's sister and family, Nikki, Andrew and Colton, and Brandon's parents. But then my ended up in town and stopped by with Kate and the kids. He only stayed for a little while, but we had a full house. It was so much fun. The weather ended up turning out to be nice so we played outside and BBQ'd. I loved it. We also celebrated my mom's birthday since her birthday was the friday before. I didn't take too many pictures that day, but here's a few.
My mom covering up her age. :)
Mom and Lexi.
Allison even got to play the guitar with Grandma and Grandpa Lance. She loved it. I think we need to buy her one someday. :)
10 points for Brandon! First the hotel room for your birthday? Then the extremely thoughtful necklace and the HOUSE CLEANING for Mother's Day!? You are one lucky lady!!! Way to go on the Half Marathon! You're amazing!
