Augfest is a big weekend in August that a bunch of friends of Brandon's friend James celebrate their birthdays. They get together at this house in Idaho (a father in law of one of the guys) and has the ultimate guy weekend. Brandon went last year and raved about it. The owner has his own runway, airplane hangar with two planes, and a go cart race track. Brandon wanted us to go this year since there were a lot more families with small kids going. One of the nights they have a theme party. This year it was Cowboys and Indians. Brandon and I haven't been too adventurous taking Allison places, but we were willing to try it this weekend. I think we probably ruined Brandon's dream weekend. :)
The first night was awful. We slept in tents outside, but didn't realize how cold it got at night. Allison was up almost the entire night. Not knowing/realizing how cold it got, I just packed her cotton pjs. So dumb. We should have layered her in fleece. We brought her mini pack n play so she'd have a place to sleep, but it definitely wasn't warm enough for her. Plus she was just getting over another ear infection. Brandon ended up sitting in a camp chair holding her all night long freezing his butt off. Oh the things parents do for their little ones. :)
The second night was WAY better. We were able to find a corner in the rec room to sleep so Allison was much warmer. We could finally enjoy ourselves for the theme party. It felt good to relax a little and not be so worried about Allison. At the party, we learned to some square dances. That was so much fun. Allison and Brandon dressed like cowboys and I was an Indian.
The kids. Allison refused to sit down. :)
The cowboys
On our way back from Idaho we stayed at our friend Jaclyn's parent's house in Spokane. It was a nice break from "camping." We played games and ate great food. Everyone but Allison and I went in the boat to go wakeboarding. Allison hated the life jacket. At least we tried!
Overall the weekend was great, but a little rough in the beginning. We'll see if Brandon wants us back next year. :)
