The Perfect Housewife

Before I had Allison, I was looking forward to having so much time off. I not only was looking forward to being with her, but to also be the perfect housewife. I wanted to have a perfectly clean house and have dinner on the table every night. My dreams flew right out the window as soon as reality set in. (Sorry Brandon!) It is so much harder to get things done with a baby! She barely naps (or when she does they are very unpredictable). During her nap time I either use that time to take a shower, eat, zone out on the internet, and sometimes pump. Other times I try to get the most important housework done...laundry, dishes, garbage and vacuuming. I feel bad when I have to set her down for a few minutes to make a sandwich or take out the garbage. Right now I am wearing her in a baby bjorn to try to get her to nap, so I really can't do much but sit here or walk around. :) I can't even do major grocery shopping with her. She falls asleep in her carseat, so when I go to the grocery store I put her in the stroller (carseat fits on top) and carry around a basket and just get only what I need for a meal or two. I also pile stuff on the stroller if I have too much. I am starting to realize though that it's not about how perfect your meals are or how clean your house is. What's the most important is this little girl and how happy her life is. I would rather have a chaotic house and a happy girl that I am playing with all the time than a perfectly clean house with dinner ready, but a baby that just sits and plays by herself all day. I hope Allison has a great and memory filled life ahead of her!
